I am absolutely delighted to let you know that this year’s Blue Sunday has raised over £30,000!
Tea parties for M.E. of varying sizes were held all over the world, with money being donated to 11 M.E. charities (that I know of).
With an estimated £8000 donated outside of the dedicated Blue Sunday Donations links, and being unable to verify much of that amount, I can’t give you a more definite total.
But I can absolutely and confidently say that we have raised over £30,000 together. Thirty. Thousand. Pounds. And then some!
People of all severities attempted to make Blue Sunday work for them and I will remain immensely proud of that. From darkened rooms, unable to sit up, fed through tubes, wearing blue pyjamas top under a blue blanket, to cake sales in village halls, to tea parties hosted with the help of friends and family, video calls with flexible timings…we came together to celebrate ourselves and toast those who couldn’t be with us.
How many people can say they helped raised over £30,000 whilst incredibly unwell? We can 😉
We endure such suffering but somehow seek out joy despite the symptoms. How can you not celebrate that?! That is an outstanding level of spirit and tenacity; one we shouldn’t have had to find but our ability to do so deserves recognition. And in the absence of outside admiration, we shall (quietly!) applaud each other.
So a round of applause for us! Hooray!
