Didn’t want the clock to tick over into a new year without saying a huge and heartfelt thank you to you all for helping to make my 2024 the best it could be.

Thank you for supporting and championing me and Blue Sunday for another year and getting the fundraising total to £40,000 for 2024 alone; taking the overall total since 2013 to over £140,000. I’m not sure they’ve invented a word to sum up how phenomenal an achievement that is for any person, let alone ‘people like us’ who cannot fundraise in conventional ways.
I really am so grateful to have found you along the way and to have you here as the most supportive sounding board for my thoughts and reflections as I keep trying to make something of a life within the restrictions of M.E. You make a huge difference to me and to this community.
I’m bloomin’ proud to be amongst such fine company of people making and finding their own way against the odds, against the ‘norm’, against their own bodies…
We have lost too many community members again this year, and the world in general is becoming an increasing difficult place to be. There are no ifs or buts there, only the continued attempts to find snippets of joy and gratitude and light amongst the darkness.
It is not an easy time to be alive, but we are. And I for one will go into a new year grateful to do so because others in our community weren’t dealt that same hand. I won’t forget them or let them be forgotten. If I do nothing else, I will do that.
January is peak hibernation season for me. I won’t be asking or expecting much of myself, other than to get the ball rolling on Blue Sunday 2025 if there’s an hour or two in the week where I can chip away at it.
Go gently my friends. You’ve come through a gruelling year. Let’s go one day at a time ey!
