Where on earth do I begin?

I mean, what does one say when an idea they had during the poorliest and hardest time of their life is so well received that it raises thousands and thousands of pounds in a day?!

How do you thank a group of people who gave so generously, both their money and their incredibly precious energy, to make Blue Sunday 2021 a success? I’ve been thinking of this for days and still have no idea.

For those who haven’t seen, the fundraising total is currently just over £17,000. Seventeen thousand pounds! With donations still coming in every day.

Fundraising total from 9 out of 12 of the charities Blue Sunday was hoping to raise money for.

I had cards, gifts and flowers arrive to wish me good luck. I’ve had cards, gifts and flowers arrive to thank me and congratulate me. You’re thanking me. I don’t know but I feel it should be me thanking all of you. What’s one person and their Tea Party For M.E. if nobody joins in? Blue Sunday is nothing without you all.

While it may have been my idea, it is you who makes it what it is each year. You who makes it a success. You who helps me spread the word and reach more people who might like to join in. And I want you to remind yourself often of what we managed to achieve together this year, and all the years before that for those who’ve been with me from the beginning.

The success of this year’s event shows how much we want to be a part of something. How much we want to live. How we can thrive when things are more tailored to our needs, and how we can and we will do incredible things when that happens. Do not write us off. Together we raised thousands and thousands of pounds from our beds, our homes, our gardens. How many people can say that?

I can only ever speak for myself but to feel included in something, for something to have actually been purposely planned around my unpredictable and restrictive health, and for those around me who do have the freedom of good health to be onboard with that, well that’s something wonderful for me. As I’ve said before, I believe a fundraising event for M.E should include people living with the illness. And I will champion those people and I will strive to include them, because quite frankly they are incredibly important to me.

Your happiness and support on Blue Sunday has been the greatest gift.

There is so much to thank you for. Thank you for giving so generously and for spending your incredibly precious energy on the Tea Party For M.E. Thank you for making me feel so appreciated and so supported. Thank you for crediting me with starting this. Thank you for coming together and joining in.

What a truly magnificent bunch we are.
