About Anna

Hello, I’m Anna. I’m 35 and I live in South Lincolnshire with my husband, known on the blog as Mr Tree Surgeon. We met in 2014 when I decided to brave the world of dating whilst chronically ill. We got married in October 2017.

For the first 5 years of my illness I lived with my parents, whose unwavering support throughout The M.E. Years has been the ultimate silver lining during what could have been a very bleak time.

Before The M.E. Years, I studied History at the University of East Anglia (UEA) between 2007-10. I worked for a children’s multi-activity camp and when my parents took over the business in 2008 I helped out even more.

In September 2010, after a week abroad with my family, I became unwell very suddenly and my life altered beyond recognition within a matter of weeks. In the October I became a full-time poorly person.

In November 2010 I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, also known as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. In January 2011 I was referred to the Lincolnshire CFS/ME Clinic who classed me as a severe sufferer. I am yet to recover although I am incredibly lucky to have seen some improvement.

So I wasn’t always a sick chick; this is somewhat of a life changing experience! It may not be the life I’d have chosen but it’s the life I’ve got, so I try hard to look on the bright side. Sometimes I fail miserably though.
