I’m sure it comes as no surprise that I’m sharing this message with you all.

With the tea party scheduled for 7 weeks time, and with placing myself in a minimum of 12 weeks of physical distancing/isolation, the Real Life event is cancelled. Current UK government guidelines mean that we cannot have a gathering of this size, nor can we meet in person with our families to mark M.E. Awareness week. Blue Sunday 2020 will be an online only event.

I am no stranger to cancelling or postponing plans. Nor am I a stranger to the disappointment that that brings. But after a year off in 2019 I was already so excited for this year’s event.

Every year there’s an online virtual tea party running alongside the real life event. That will still go ahead, and so this announcement won’t have changed anything for the vast majority of you who were unable to join me in person on 17th May.

Perhaps more people than ever will feel the need to join us virtually as we all must keep in touch online rather than in person for the foreseeable future.

In a VERY strange way it’s almost a relief that the reason for the cancellation has nothing to do with me not being well enough M.E-wise.

I’d like to thank all of you who had planned to make the trip to join me in person. To those who offered to help financially with the venue hire thank you so much. That would have made the world of difference as I always try to fund the tea party myself rather than dipping into the money donated. Thank you to those who planned to bake and send their delicious treats to be enjoyed on the day at the Real Life event. I’m hoping you’ll still be able to do this next year pretty please! Thank you to those offering Giveaway prizes. I am not yet sure whether there will still be a giveaway of the same scale, or at all, but I’ll keep you all in the loop. Thank you to the friends offering to help make up blue awareness ribbons so that I had one less task on my ever-growing To Do list. Next year I’ll know who to call on for help.

More info on how to join in (it’s easy peasy) will follow soon. Best wishes to you all. Anna xxx
