I joked recently to my family and friends via text message that if anyone started getting ‘cabin fever’ or going ‘stir crazy’ with having to stay at home and remain isolated, that they should come to me for advice on how to cope. Nine and half years of (mostly) living within what are now the Government guidelines on Social Isolation have prepared me well!
Turns out a few people did reach out for genuine help in coping as best as possible with being unable to leave their homes at the moment. So I jotted a few things down, off the top of my head, and sent them to those asking for advice. I thought I’d post them here too for anyone else struggling or daunting by the weeks and months ahead.
Disclaimer: These points will not apply to everyone and are in no way meant to be patronising. They are mostly aimed at those who usually enjoy the freedoms and luxuries of a life unobstructed by chronic illness. There are just things that I do, when my health allows, that really do help keep me sane.
